Here at Space Cat Academy, we follow the mantra of “Anything dogs can do, cats can do better!”
One of the reasons we came to this conclusion was the persistence and determination of cats. The idea of having a cat nose work course came about because I compete in the sport of nose work with my dog. Our cat, Peach, started finding the target scent faster than the dog! Naturally, as a trainer, I had to reinforce her for it.
Peach has so much fun playing this game that we wanted to give all cats their opportunity to shine!
So, what is nose work anyway?
In this course, we will teach your cat to search for a target scent. Cats are hunters and use their senses to find prey. This game encourages your cat to hunt and when they find the scent, we give them a delicious treat!
This is a satisfying game for cats that can help to exercise them mentally and physically, encourage shy cats to explore their environment, and keep your cat from becoming bored. Bored cats find their own fun which could be anything from destroying a favorite item to meowing for attention.
Not only is this game fun for cats, but it is fun for the human too!
Watch your cat’s predator nature come alive in a unique and safe way! You’ll be amazed when your cat finds the correct location of the scent, because we aren’t able to pick the scent out in the room. I have a passion for nose work because it is so fascinating to watch!
